Year 1919 – Continuing the “Millions Campaign”

In 1919 Watchtower Society has not issued any new book except another repeated edition of The Finished Mystery, that two years earlier (in 1917) introduced the year 1925.

Upcoming years brought reprints with some changes (the list of editions: 1917, 1918, 1919, 1920, 1923, 1924, 1926, 1927).

In addition to the book, the Watchtower Society issued many treatises (26), but unfortunately this kind of short publications is difficult to find these days. The index lists those small publications, but it is hard to guess which one talked about the 1925, although it was the time of the “Millions Campaign.” Here are some of the titles:

Earth to Be Filled With Glory; Golden Age at the Door; The Dawn of a New Era; Hope of Immortality; The Bruising of Satan. (Watch Tower Publications Index 1986-1990, 1992 p. 510).

In the same year (1919) the Watchtower Society linked 1925 with C.T. Russell:

Many years ago Pastor Russell pointed out from Holy Writ that Jerusalem is to be the capital of the world, when the new era is fully established, probably from the year 1925 on; and that from that center the natural seed of Abraham would bless all mankind. (The Watchtower February 15, 1919 p. 6391, reprints).

The Watchtower Society is proud of their “millions who will not die” motto as it has become known around the world. Perhaps this slogan has contributed to the fact that many people have heard of the existence of this organization:

The campaign with the new book Millions Now Living Will Never Die! was vigorously carried on at this time, necessitating the printing and distribution of large quantities of copies of it. On this same subject public lectures, together with much newspaper advertising, were conducted the world over. In fact the campaign was so impressive that the title itself is still a byword among many in America and Europe to this day. (The Watchtower May 15, 1955 p. 297).
