The material on 1925 and the “Millions Campaign” that we have presented is almost complete in terms of cited publications. The author has found, (he strongly believes in that), an enough documentation to present, without bias and distortion, Watchtower Society teachings concerning the year 1925. Texts are usually quoted from the Watchtower, bypassing the Golden Age magazine sometimes. However, the author got acquainted with the entire material and he refers to or points to all magazines related to this subject. In addition to the publications from 1917-1926, we have included numerous memoirs of this organization related to this topic. The memoirs confirm the authenticity of the old publications and are also an accessible material that will allow anyone to become more familiar with the “Millions Campaign.”
Although the teaching of 1925 was proclaimed in roughly the same span of time as the interpretation of the year 1975 (1966-1975), it was much more difficult to describe all the interesting issues.
The biggest challenge was to present and describe the topic that today has little to do with the current interpretation provided by the Watchtower Society. The language and the symbols of those years is completely unintelligible for the uninitiated. What could today’s Jehovah’s Witness say about that, The ages of the animals offered aggregated eleven years, which, applied prophetically, on the scale of a year for a day, equal 3960 years, the length of time from the date of the visions to A. D. 1925 (The Finished Mystery 1917 p. 128).
Can this language, full of symbols be understood by any average Jehovah’s Witness today, let alone by people who have little to no contact with the Watchtower Society’s publications?
Another challenge I have faced was the fact all this is the historical, done case. I was born to the world after 1925, so I could not feel the atmosphere of those days, I had to rely on the existing Watchtower “documentation.”
In contrast, when I wrote about 1975 or “the generation of 1914” I had my own memories of these teachings and I was able to verify that with people who supported and even propagated their views on 1914 and 1975.
Unfortunately, the generation of those who deliberately expected 1925, almost died out. I did not personally come across any person who, as one of the Watchtower Society’s publishers, was involved in the 1925 teaching. Reminiscent of those events, teaching and respective publications slightly become lost and go away with those that died. All of that plus the fact that the Watchtower Society manipulates and mispresents their own past teaching became an impulse for the author to collect and publish this book. This publication can be treated as, is you will, Dear Reader, a kind of repository or reference point for anyone to do a deeper research about the 1925. All the quoted publications will reveal much broader context to quoted passages.
1925, 1914, 1975 and “the generation of 1914” are the most important dates and teachings of the Watchtower Society. In fact, they gave direction for many years to its followers about the future of the world and human being. Therefore, anyone who wants to understand the intentions of this organization should familiarize himself or herself with the material published by the Society. This book can help to navigate through Watchtower meanders and various changes to their own teaching.
