„Millions” answers a prayer, test of faith

How quickly God responds to prayer and points to The Millions Now Living Will Never Die!, shows the Watchtower Society in one of its biographies:

That was in the year 1925. I was twenty-one years of age, but from my teens I had been searching for God’s truth. (...) So one day, for the first time in my life, I knelt at my bedside and directed a prayer to the true God and asked him to reveal his truth and his people to me. The very next morning I was handed a Scriptural book entitled “Millions Now Living Will Never Die.” I devoured it. This was the answer to my prayer. (The Watchtower December 15, 1973 p. 760).

It is a pity that this publisher did not tell what he read in this book and why it was later rejected, although it was a response to his prayer to God!

Although millions were supposed not to die, the death was still present and faced by people (of course), despite the promise. Let’s have a look at what the Watchtower Society writes in one of the articles:

In December of 1921 Brother Rutherford wrote me to arrange for all the congregations to hold public meetings on a Sunday afternoon early in 1922. Everyone was to use the subject “Millions Now Living Will Never Die.” This grand public lecture was given at almost every village or town in our territory. This thorough witness embittered the clergy all the more, but the work prospered. In 1925 a great calamity occurred in my family. Because of a severe type of dysentery three of my children died. This was a great shock to me and my wife, but we were comforted by our firm faith in the resurrection. (The Watchtower January 15, 1964 p. 59).

The above-mentioned speaker did not say whether, despite the death of his children in “the year 1925,” he also expected them to be resurrected at that time. It is hard to understand how the publishers of the organization were able to survive such trials when they believed in the near end of death.
